Following the nationwide fuel scarcity problem, a litre of petrol is now being sold for between N200 and N250 in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, with a snake-like queue in few of the filling stations that had the products.
Our correspondent after a market survey reports that in Yola and its environs, almost all the filling stations were closed down, but the commodity was available at black markets and other road side vendors.
The filling stations owned by the major oil marketers such as Total, Conoil, Oando, amongst others, were also shutdown due to alleged fuel shortage.
Mr. Gibson Audu, of the Total filling Station on Banks Road, Jimeta, said the scarcity of the fuel was linked to the short supply from Gombe and Warri loading depots.
“Any time the fuel is available we will sell it, because the situation is seriously affecting us,” Audu said.
In some black market filling stations in Jimeta and Yola the fuel pump prices is sold at N120.
Meanwhile, at the road side black marketers popularly known as ‘Yan chuwa-Chuwa” mostly unemployed youths were now making brisk of profit on daily basis through the selling of the petrol.
One Dan Yaro Garba, who was selling the commodity on Jimeta-Yola road, said they bought the fuel from some filling stations in the night at a cost of N150 per litre.
“We sold it to motorists between N200 and N250 per litre,” Jibo said
All efforts made to contact the state chairman of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) have proved abortive.
