Rumble in Kannywood over Ganduje’s N5m gift ‘diversion’

These are not the best of times for the Executive Director, Kano State Films and Censorship Board, Ismail Na’abba Afakallah, as he has been linked to alleged diversion of N5 million donated by the Kano state Governor, Abdullahi Umar Gaduje, to family of Late Ibro Rabilu Musa Danlasan daughter.

The money, which was said to have been in support of her marriage among other things, however, was yet to get to get her giving rise to speculations on the money’s whereabouts.

Worried by long silence over this donation, popular Kannywood singer and comedian Yusuf Haruna aka Baba Chinedu took to his Face book page and called on the Ulamas and other well meaning Nigerians to recover the money. According to him, the money had been diverted by the censorship board boss, who sources alleged collected the money from the Kano state government.

Baba Chinedu, who alongside Dauda Kahutu Rarara and Nura Hussain, were said to have assisted immensely in securing Afakallah’s appointment as executive director of the board because of their reported closeness to the governor, made it clear on his Face book page and other social media platform that he was aware that the money had been released to his erstwhile ally.

However, in a swift reaction, Afakallah through his lawyer Barrister Musa Karaye threatened to drag Baba Chinedu to court for character assassination if the comedian failed to debunk the allegations.

Afakallah, who insisted the accusation was aimed at tarnishing his image, maintained he would go to any length to clear his name.

Baba Chinedu, however, called the census board boss bluff even as the 24-hour ultimatum issued by Afakallah had elapsed at the time of filing this report.

It is uncertain how the standoff would end as Baba Chinedu has continued to maintain his ground, even as Blueprint Weekend’s effort to confirm that the donation had been released to Afakallah from officials of Kano state government proved unsuccessful.
