Rotary commissions road project in Kubwa, inducts new members

The Rotary Club of Abuja, Kubwa, as part of its intervention projects, has commissioned a traffic control post at Aso Savings junction in Kubwa, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The club also carried out filling of pot-holes and landscaping of the road at Aso Savings junction and subsequently inducted new members during a meeting with the District Governor, Board of Directors and Club Assembly.

Speaking at the event, the president of the club, Rtn Emmanuel Abonta, weekend said it has been the practice of Rotary Clubs to identify areas of need within its catchment area, adding that the project will help road users to commute easily to their destinations.

Speaking about projects by the club, Rtn Abonta advised Nigerians to embrace and support humanitarian works to provide solution to problems in the society. He added that government cannot do it alone.

He said: “We adopted a community here in Kubwa called Kungabukun, where we have helped renovate their health centre, provided free drugs to all pregnant women, renovated their LEA school and built a new classroom and administrative blocks. We have also provided a bus-stop at Ashafa, which is within this neighbourhood.

“As a voluntary organisation, we cannot sit and fold our arms. We have to come out to fill in the gap. That is what we are trying to do here today, by giving back to the community.”
