The Rotary Club of Sapele, Delta state, Sapele Gateway 9141 has empowered widows and donated learning materials to primary schools in the state.

President of  Sapele Gateway, Rotarian Austin Atiti, while speaking at the maiden visit of the District Governor of Delta, Edo, Rivers, and Bayelsa, Rotarian Nze Anizor, and his wife, Clara Anizor, stated that the empowerment of the less-privileged remained the focus of the club, assuring that Rotary would continue to touch lives.

According to him, “Rotarians are encouraged to touch the lives of those who are really in need, indigents in our immediate environment”

He said, the Rotary Foundation would stop at nothing in promoting peace and supporting projects.

Speaking at the presentation of N10,000 to the widows at the Sapele Local Government Council Secretariat, the District Governor Rotarian Anizor said empowering women, especially widows, at such level would help alleviate poverty.

He explained that the members decided to present the cash gift themselves because “when Rotarians see widows, especially those who do not have anybody to assist them, they are moved.”

Earlier the District Governor noted that the club would continue to partner the Local Government Council in putting smiles on the faces of Sapele residents, while urging them to lend their support to the Chairman in his quest to make Sapele great again.

Schools pupils presented with books include pupils of Omatsola Primary School and Eyetan Primary School, while over 100 women were presented with wrappers and baby first wears.
