RMRDC boss charges institutions on impactful research results

The Director-General, Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Professor Nnanyelugo Martin Ike-Muonso, recently, expressed confidence that for any research to be effective, it must have definite positive impact on the nation’s economy.

Prof. Ike-Muonso stated this when he received Professor Mikano Ari, a Senior Lecturer with the Nasarawa State University (NSUK) and a team of other distinguished senior lecturers from the University.

According to a statement signed by the Director, Corporate Services Department (CDS) RMRDC, Mr. Chucks Ngaha, Professor Ari who represented the Vice Chancellor of the University expressed the university’s interest to collaborate with the Council in the research area of agricultural based raw materials, saying that the University was ready to partner with the Council to develop raw materials for the agro industrial sector.

Responding, Prof. Ike-Muonso said the Council would collaborate with the institution provided that the research objective will create a positive impact on the nation’s economy.

“That’s the only measurable indicator of the relevance of the research,” he said.

The DG emphasized that the Council will only engage in collaborative research activities which are result driven and time bound.

Prof. M. M. Ari assured the DG that a course program as well as a comprehensive curriculum will be designed by the institution as requested for the new program as the Council remains the Federal Government parastatal mandated to carry out research into the development of the nation’s raw materials for its economic transformation with a globalised impact.
