The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Rivers state chapter has hailed Hon. Mrs Barile Nwakoh on her emergence as the first female member to represent Khana Constituency 1 in the state House of Assembly.
Chairman of NYCN in the state, Comrade Nwisabari Bani Samuel made the commendation when he led members of his executives on a congratulatory visit to Hon Nwakoh at her residence in Port Harcourt over the weekend.
The NYCN chairman, who highlighted the importance of Khana state constituency 1 in the scheme of things – its population and material resources – extolled the role Hon. Nwakoh played during the political crisis in Rivers state, especially in maintaining peaceful disposition and upholding the rule of law.
In his words: “It is my first visit after my return from the NYCN Chairmen’s Forum meeting in Kaduna, where I was re-elected Public Relations Officer(PRO) of the NYCN Chairmen’s Forum. I want to congratulate you on your emergence as member Rivers State House of Assembly and the First Female Member to represent Khana Constituency 1 where I also come from.
“I applaud you for the role you have been playing to maintain peace in the state in the face of the political unrest, where you stood for the rule of law. The constituency didn’t make any mistake to elect you.
“We also wish to advise that you look at programmes that will be beneficial and empower the youths so as to reduce the youth restiveness in our society today,” Nwisabari Samuel stated.
According to him, any society that puts the youth first turns out to be an organised society, calling on government at all levels to ensure that issues concerning youth are prioritised for the growth of the society.
In her response, Hon. Mrs. Barile Nwakoh appreciated the youths for the visit and reiterated the need for peace to be upheld in the state as the only way for development to strive in the state.
She expressed her willingness to partner with the NYCN in the state in programmes that would impact positively on the lives of the youths
