Rivers int’l film festival receives 174 submissions from 51 countries 

 

Few days after the Rivers International Film Festival called for submission of film records, 174 nominations have been received from 51 counties.

Founder/Festival Director, Kate Ezeigbo, who revealed this in a statement Tuesday noted that the maiden edition of the festival in 2023, received 563 entries from 82 countries. 

 Ezeigbo added that the organisers were expecting much more in this year’s second edition, adding that the festival is ready to receive over 1500 films from over 200 countries.

She called on those interested to submit their films, saying: Let’s travel the world together, exploring our culture and heritage with our films.”

The Rivers International Film Festival is organised by an indigenous association, Desgol Entertainment Worldwide, which is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

The festival destination for this second edition is Port Harcourt, the Garden City of Nigeria.

The maiden edition with the theme, “Educating and Empowering the Next Generation of Film Makers” received submission of five hundred and sixty three films submitted from eighty-two countries, and held a cocktail party where both international and local practitioners networked.

Also, the best RIFF2SCREEN project won prizes, while the best indigenous performances won awards with over three thousand persons who screened a total of eight movies during the film festival.
