Rivers crisis: PDP sues for peace, cautions LG ex-Chairmen

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Wednesday cautioned the immediate past Rivers state local government Chairmen against any conduct that is capable of disrupting the peace in the state.

The chairmen tenure allegedly expired and the state governor, Fubara had moved against their continued stay in office.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the party noted that the three-year tenure of the former Rivers State Local Government Executive Councils expired by the effluxion of time under the relevant state law establishing it.

The PDP, therefore, counsels the former Rivers State Local Government Council Chairmen to desist from any action that might constitute disruption in local government administration in the state.

It read partly: “The party calls on the people of Rivers state to remain calm, law-abiding and continue to work together for the continued stability, peace and delivery of democracy dividends in Rivers state.”
