Rivers: Cleric urges Nigerians to be security conscious during Christmas celebration

Pastor Israel Jackson of the Redeemers Restoration Ministry, Port Harcourt, has urged Nigerians to be security conscious during Christmas and New Year celebrations.

He stated that Christmas is celebrated in almost every part of the world as the birth of Jesus Christ  by Christians and non Christians and  it is a season of joy and celebration.

He however noted that: “Insecurity has become high in Rivers state recently as a result of political issues and high ambitions to make money through criminal activities and other dangerous activities.

“There was a case of a gang of gun men who went to the apartment of one Mr Uzondu Izidor, where they got information that he returned to Nigeria for Christmas, but he was not at the apartment at the time. They set the apartment on fire.”

He pointed out that the Rivers state government is encouraging people to be vigilant during this Christmas and New year celebration, so it would not turn to be a season of violence or criminal activities.

He added: “The political situation in Rivers state at this time Christmas is approaching has made people to be more concerned about their safety during the celebration period.”
