Rivers: ‘APC’s ‘plot to sway Appeal Court verdict’ will fail’

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, has said that attempts at swaying the verdict of Court of Appeal in the Rivers state governorship election case would not succeed.
Chinda, who represents Obio-Akpor Federal Constituency of the state, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of “engaging in sheer mischief, propaganda and a deliberate misinformation in a desperate attempt at influencing and swaying the expected judgement of the Appeal Court in the suit filed by Governor Nyesom Wike, challenging the earlier ruling of the Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.”

The lawmaker, in a statement yesterday in Abuja, described the orchestrated march organised on Monday by the APC candidate in the April 11 governorship polls in Rivers, Hon. Dakuku Peterside, as “a desperate ploy to achieve the aim.”
He said: “The APC members notorious for their lies and propaganda hinged their petition on imaginary killings and maiming in Rivers state; I wonder what Dakuku, his supporters and the APC in Rivers stand to gain by staging a rally on the same day that the whole world, Nigeria and the people of Rivers state were marking the World AIDS Day.”

“All they hope to achieve is to sway the mind of the judges that there was mayhem in Rivers state. The Judges are too experienced to be so blackmailed.
“This is sheer mischief and another of the propaganda gimmick by the APC in Rivers state in the desperation for power at all cost. And it shows their lack of respect for humanity and human life, that they will plan a rally to remember those who in their imagination and lies were killed in the violence that engulfed Rivers state before and during the governorship election in which the people rejected them and their lies.”
