Ringim tasks NAHACON on early Hajj preparations

Former Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Uba Bala Ringim, has advised the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHACON) to adopt a culture of early preparation for annual Hajj operations, so as to improve on its performance and avoid lapses of the previous operations.

He gave the advice while interacting with our correspondent yesterday in Dutse, Jigawa state capital.
He said that even though Hajj operation was not an easy task, early preparation would reduce hitches drastically.

He said: “I came back from Saudi just two days,” he said. “I saw how the Saudi authorities were making frantic efforts to expand the two Holly mosques in Mecca and Madina, with a view to reducing congestion during the Hajj exercise, and I think the number of slots allocated to Nigeria is justifiable.

“I discussed with the Nigerian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia about the need for Nigeria to have more number of pilgrims, but told me that it wasn’t possible due to expansion work going on at the Haram mosque in Mecca and the mosque of the Holy Prophet in Medina.”
