Retired officers offer voluntary security services

Gwagwalada branch of Retired   Army, Navy and Air Force Officers Association of Nigeria (RANAO) has said that arrangements are ongoing for the members to embark on providing voluntary security services to the residents.

Its Chairman, Maj.-Gen. Anthony Majali (retd.,), stated that the plan was  to contribute towards the tackling of  the incessant security challenges across  the country.

Majali disclosed this in Gwagwalada at the weekend at an event to mark the Association’s Day, as well as to commemorate two years existence of the branch.

He urged government to make use of retired officers, saying majority of them were combatant ready to sacrifice their lives for the unity of the country and protect lives and property whenever they were called upon.

“The insurgent live among the members of the society; there is an urgent need for the government to make use of us for intelligence information gathering and dissemination. Even those who served in police intelligence unit and other paramilitary formations should also be engaged,” he said.

The chairman called on members to show interest in the activities of RANAO by attending meetings, which he assured them of his leadership commitment to promote their well being.

Contributing, the chairman, Organising Committee,  Brig.-Gen. Musa Garga (retd), tasked leadership of military formations across the country  to engage the retired military officers, saying that they would be ready at all the time to assist the serving officers with a view to enhancing their capacity building.

He also called for synergy between retired military officers and serving, even as he encouraged members of the association in Gwagwalada and its environs to continue to relate well with all serving security officers.
