Retain Abioye as governing council chair, Kwara youth beg Tinubu

Some Kwara youth under the auspices of the Kwara Development Youth Forum (KDYF)  Wednesday appealed to President Bola Tinubu to retain one of the Kwara state nominees in the reconstituted federal tertiary institutions governing councils, Chief Tajudeen Abioye, as the chairman of one of the councils.

Convener of the forum, Tiamiyu Adekunle Azeez, in a statement Wednesday appreciated Tinubu for considering a worthy son of Erin-Ile for a federal appointment.

He noted that the move indicates the president’s determination to run an all-inclusive government, but observed that there might be an error listing Abioye as a member of the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, against being the chairman of the governing council.

Azeez stated that Abioye, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state was named as the chairman Governing Council of YABATECH in the first list released in May 2024.

“While we acknowledge that the president can reassign another institution to Chief Abioye, it is shocking to see him as an ordinary member.

“We humbly appeal to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and President Bola Tinubu to address this error and place Chief Abioye properly to ensure he adds value to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu. Abioye possesses requisite credentials and experience to chair the governing council of any federal institution in the country,” he said.

The forum implored Erin-Ile indigenes, Oyun local government stakeholders and Kwarans to remain calm, describing the president as a compassionate and listening leader with a quality reward system.
