Deputy Governor of Kaduna state, Arc Barnabas Bala Bantex, has applauded the federal government and in particular the governors of the South-east for exhibiting what he described as “high sense of maturity in handling of the sensitive issue of Biafra agitation” by the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB).

The deputy governor bore his mind during a meeting at the Kaura local government secretariat convened by the Administrator, Mr. Zitung Basahuwa Agog yesterday, saying the act of patriotism by the governors should be supported by all.

The deputy governor, who also described the move as unfortunate, lamented the unguided utterances by those championing the move to break the country into fragments, in difference to the dreams of the founding fathers.

Bantex said the ugly experience of the civil war between 1967 and 1970 should serve as a lesson to everyone nursing the ambition of fomenting trouble in the name of breaking away.

Earlier, the administrator of the local government, Mr. Zitung Basahuwa Agog, had said that the meeting was principally convened to allay fears and restore confidence to the Igbos over the quit notice issued them by Arewa Youth recently, describing as “unfortunate” the activities of (IPOB), which nearly led to chaos in some parts of the country.

Agog said the Igbos had no reason what so ever to leave the local government for the east as there was no threat from any quarters.

He called on all to tolerate and accommodate one other, in order to take the local government to the next level.

The meeting, which had in attendance representatives of all tribes residing in the local government as well as religious leaders, was rounded up with prayers for peace and unity of the country.
