Restructuring: North‘ll not be cajoled by unpatriotic elements – Al-Makura

Governor Umar Almakura of Nasarawa state said that the North would not be cajoled by unpatriotic elements hiding under the guise of restructuring of the country. He stated weekend at the offi cial installation and presentation of fi rst class staff of offi ce to Dr.Shehu Chindo Yamusa 111, as the new Emir of Keffi ,Keffi Local Government Area of the state. Almakura explained that inspite of numerous provocative statements credited to some unpatriotic elements under the guise of restructuring in the country, assured that a joint committee headed by the governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, comprising northern governors and traditional rulers would soon come up with a common position that will be in the best interest of not only the North, but Nigeria as a whole.

“ His Highness is coming on board at a time this Administration is partnering with our traditional rulers in our collective determination to unite our people and provide conducive environment for harmonious coexistence for rapid socioeconomic development of the society “ He also restated that his government was working towards ensuring the inclusion of traditional rulers in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to enable them to continue to play its pivotal role as custodians of traditions, customs and heritage.

He therefore, urged the monarch to abide by the oath of offi ce and to discharge his duties without fear or favour in order to promote peace and the socioeconomic development of the state and countryat large. Th e governor called for continued relationship in order to promote peaceful co-existence in the country. Responding, the new Emir of Keffi assured the state government of his emirate council loyalty and support at all times.
