Reps member Gbande laments federal worker, other’s abduction in Benue

The member representing Katsina-Ala, Ukum and Logo federal constituency, Comrade Richard Gbande, has condemned the abduction of two staff of the Federal Ministry of Works and a contractor on May 2, 2023, at Tse Agbete village, Kendev ward in Ukum local government area.

Gbande, who expressed dismay over the incident, described it as “inhumane, barbaric, de-humanising, shameful, uncouth and strange.”

According to him, the activities of unlawful gunmen are capable of hindering development in the area.

An eyewitness volunteered that the victims were on ground for the construction of a three-classroom block at LGEA Primary School, Agbete, which was facilitated and sponsored by Gbande.

The eyewitness said further that the team, led by Accountant Sevav Ezekiel, shortly after briefing kinsmen and youths, was about to be taken to the site when a group of gunmen appeared shooting sporadically into the air.

According to the eyewitness, those that were present took to their heels for safety while the victims were forcefully taken to an unknown destination.

Dr. Gbande, the deputy chairman, House Committee on Commerce, in a statement, appealed to those perpetrating the act to lay down their arms and embrace peace for the development of the area.

It was gathered that those kidnapped were the Benue state Resident Architect of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing and Engr. Anthony Ishaku of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Abuja.
