Renewed Hope Agenda success depends on you, FG tells civil servants

The federal government has appealed to civil servants to restore public confidence in the service by embracing the core values of accountability, meritocracy, professionalism, loyalty, and efficiency as guiding principles in their work.

The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, who spoke at Ede, Osun state, during the o going 46th National Council on Establishments’ meeting, stressed that civil service “remains a critical and indispensable mechanism for the effective implementation of government policies.”

She said, “The success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, depends on our ability to plan, implement, and monitor government initiatives effectively and efficiently.”

Walson-Jack, who encouraged all states of the federation to ensure active participation of their civil servants in the capacity-building organised by the Public Service Institute, said it would help to equip workers with requisite skills to be more functional.

“I call on each of you to fully adopt the core values of Accountability, Meritocracy, Professionalism, Loyalty, and Efficiency (AMPLE) as guiding principles in your work. Embracing these values will help restore public confidence in the Civil Service and foster a culture of transparency, efficiency, and accountability.

“By committing to these core principles, we can ensure that our service delivery meets the highest standards and advances good governance across our States.

“As regards capability building for our civil servants, it is important to recognise the invaluable training and development opportunities offered by our manpower development institutions like the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria and the Public Service Institute of Nigeria.

“I strongly encourage your state governments to actively support and send their civil servants to attend the courses provided by these esteemed institutions. By doing so, we not only strengthen the capacity and effectiveness of our workforce across the nation, but also equip civil servants with the essential skills needed to meet today’s challenges. Investing in these programmes ensures that we continue advancing toward our shared goals with resilience and professionalism.”

Governor Ademola Adeleke, who declared the meeting open, appreciated the support and cooperation of civil servants for his administration since inception, stressing that he wouldn’t have achieved “so much without their support.”

Represented by his deputy, Kola Adewusi, the governor said, “We have not done enough. We will continue to do more for our civil servants. The welfare of workers and pensioners has been the number one of this administration.”
