The Golden Eaglets, who have been decimated after more than half of the players failed the MRI age test, pipped Derby of Jos 1-0 in a friendly just as coach Fatai Amoo assured the team will be ready for next month’s U17 AFCON in Benin.
Forty of the 60 players who did the age test have since been sent packing from the team’s Abuja training camp.
The Eaglets will continue to play test games leading up to the qualifiers WAFU B, where they are drawn against Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire.
Coach Amoo has in the meantime assured he will have a team ready to do battle next month.
“We are working hard to make sure everything is okay,” the coach said.
Officials said that the Eaglets will still shop for some replacements for the players who did not scale the age test.
