The Nigeria Red Cross Society (NRSC) said it would continue to render selfless impartial humanitarian services to all Nigerians irrespective tribe, region or creed.
Plateau state chapter Secretary of NRCS, Nuruddeen Hussain Magaji, gave the assurance at the closing of ten days training of another set of 25 health professionals; Nurses, Midwives and CHEWs, in the state.
The Nigerian Red Cross Society, in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA), have in the past twenty days, trained Nurses, Midwives and CHEWs, on how to; “respond to basic reproductive, maternal and child health during emergencies in Plateau State.”
At the closing event, Nuruddeen Magaji, said in tandem with the core principles of the Red Cross they would continue to put in their best for God and humanity.
“We found it worthy to; besides working on the field, also put up new skills unto the health practitioners, who are directly dealing with some of the victims of crises, mostly women and children,” he said.
According to him, humanity has bond people together, before tribe, region or religion.
“We would continue to uphold the fundamental principles of; humanity, impartiality, neutrality, unity, Independence, Voluntary service, and Universality, in tandem with our Operations, across communities in Nigeria and Plateau State in particular,” he said.
The State Commissioner of Health, Cletus Shurkuk, said the importance of the training cannot be overemphasised, at a time when government alone cannot do everything for its people.
Represented by the Director Public Health, Doctor Buna Mafwalal, said the interventions of NRCS, in many areas of humanitarian services, are highly appreciated by the Ministry.
He tasked the participants to, “effectively applied the new knowledge and skills from the training, at their respective work places and further step it down to others.”
A representative of the trainees, Dan’Asabe Abdullahi, said “we can only reward you (NRCS/UNPFA), by stepping down what we have learnt to others that were not here.”
He stressed that they would put into practice things that they were thought, theoretically and practically.
