Reconsider planned October 1 protest,  Kogi CP tells group

The Kogi state Police command  weekend warned a group under the auspices of “Take It Back Movement’ to shelve the planned October 1, 2024 protest and give federal government more time to fix the nation’s economy.

Commissioner of Police , Kogi state, Bethrand Onuoha, gave the warning when the group visited his office in Lokoja  saturday in view of the October 1st planned nationwide protest.

The CP called for a meeting in response to their letter to the command received on Friday.

He said the group has right to organise a peaceful protest in accordance with extant laws, but  must avoid playing into the hands of disgruntled elements and hoodlums and prevent them from hijacking the process and unleashing mayhem on innocent citizens, destruction of their properties as well as damage of critical infrastructure which will have serious adverse/negative impact on the Nation’s economy.

The leader of the group, Mose Opeyemi, assured the Commissioner of Police that as enlightened and law-abiding Youths in Kogi state, they accepted his advise as a father and promised to remain committed to the peace, progress and development of the State.

He further stated that the executive and members of the group will meet to deliberate on all the issues raised by the commissioner  and come up with a reasonable resolution regarding their participation in the so-called protest.
