Real truth of what happened to me during my 61st birthday – Akpabio

Twenty-four hours after rumoured to have collapsed at the Colloquium organised for his 61st birthday in Abuja on Thursday, the President of the Senate , Godswill Akpabio said he didn’t slump but got exhausted.

The rumour mill had on Thursday alleged that Akpabio slumped while escorting President Bola Tinubu out of the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hillton Hotel, where the event held.

But in his personal reaction to the rumour reported by a section of the media, Akpabio said what happened to him, was exhaustion and nothing more which according to him, was later confirmed to be bout of malaria and stress.

He said, “I had a show of humanity. So I went home and I called my doctor and was told that I had a bout of Malaria mingled with stress.

“The stress could also be described in another way as exhaution and infact,  anybody could be exhauted which requires  everybody to  drink water daily so that you don’t get exhausted. This is to say that the beat goes on.”

Before Akpabio ‘s personal rebuttal, his spokesperson, Hon Eseme Eyiboh, had in a statement, described the rumours and report as fictionalised extensions of the Senate President’s assertion of being tired at the end of the programme.
