Re: Women charge Buhari on sack of NDDC’s EDP, Ojougboh

Our attention has been drawn to a callous publication with a dubious satire of ignorance carried out by some sponsored women under the aegis of Niger-Delta Women Integrity Vanguard to propagate hate against the personality of the EDP of the NDDC, Dr Ojoubgoh. Their very acumen seems dubious as they lack basic understanding of their argument which lack facts, but a pillage of cooked stories against the good personality of the EDP.

One may ask why the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria is writing a rejoinder to an all Niger Delta affairs. It is our belief that the unity of Nigeria is non-negotiable and as one of the largest and most virile groups in the country, we ought to stand by the sage by Edmund Burke: “the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing”. Therefore, we will not sit and watch sponsored women who should be moulding character and standing on the gap of evil be themselves purveyors of evil and hate just for a morsel of food.

We wish to categorically state that Dr Ojoubgoh is from an oil producing state and his appointment into the interim board is non-negotiable, especially with his rich and intimidating CV which is the envy of many. There is also his array of experience in politics, business, management, human resource and media. Also his unique disposition for the grassroots, his peoples centred activities, support to the downtrodden and his commitment to the fight against corruption, evident in his stand for the forensic audit of the NDDC is in line with President Buhari’s standpoint of a corrupt-free NDDC and Nigeria.

President Buhari and the minister of Niger Delta Affairs minister  should note that their accusation and call for his sack is hinged on a baseless claim in paragraph 13 of their text where they accused Dr Ojoubgoh of being responsible of the former MD, Nunieh’s sack, whereas she lacks the requisite certificate to man the office.

Their cries are from a warped, confused and dissenting  mind as it is obvious their evil plans of corruption is being fought by Dr Ojougboh have been overcame, as such they are holding on to mirage to make a case where there is none.

We are therefore moved with hope that Mr President will not just give the interim team and Dr Ojoubgoh the free hand to deliver on the mandate of the board but with no further delay confirm their appointment for a more goal driven, result oriented and masses centred NDDC, as the women group are not just comfortable with the due process instituted by Dr Ojoubgoh and the new team.

We wish to state in plain terms that we will not sit on the fence and watch a handful of individuals creating chaos for the NDDC and the federal government. Also, any sinister attempt against the interim leadership of the NDDC will be resisted as we will mobilise our counterparts from all regions of the country to stand against such. We believe in one Nigeria and good men should be given a free hand to make things better, anywhere they see themselves”.

Comrade Yusuf Yahuza,

National President,

Northern Youth Council of Nigeria
