Ramadan: Cleric blames ungodly leaders for insecurity, economic challenges

A popular Islamic scholar, Shaikh Dr. Kolawole Jumu’a, has blamed the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria on those he described as ungodly leaders.

The cleric lamented that the political leaders in the country do not seem to be conscious of Allah, their creator, or the day of judgement.

Shaikh Jumu’a spoke with journalists immediately after his Ramadan Tasfir lecture, organised by Islamic Welfare Foundation, Kwara state chapter and held at Owoniboys situated at Ibrahim Taiwo Road, Ilorin.

He wondered why, despite the different security outfits in Nigeria, the problem of insecurity still persists.

He warned those in charge of security and economic affairs of the nation to be weary of the wrath of Allah and the punishment of the judgment day.

“Only those who believe in the accountability of the afterlife will be motivated to maintain a moral and righteous leadership. They will fear Allah in their activities among others.

“The lack of belief in the hereafter by the current political leaders is a major reason for their actions and decision-making.

“Their disbelief in the day of accountability leads them to prioritise their interests over the well-being of the country.”

He urged Muslims to continue praying for their leaders and the  nation, noting Allah will surely answer Nigerians prayers.
