Christian clerics have urged market unions to reduce the prices of foodstuff and other items during the Holy month of Ramadan to enable Muslims fast and pray successfully.
General Overseer of Christ Evangelical Intercessory Fellowship Ministry, Sabon Tasha, Pastor Yohanna Buru, made the call yesterday when he led a delegation of 10 Christian clerics and 10 Muslim scholars to a meeting with all market union leaders and wholesalers from  all the 23 local government of Kaduna state.

He said the reason for organising this cut-down-your-price-campaign for God campaign was to sensitise marketers and sellers with wholesales on the importance of reducing food, fruits and other commodities’ prices.
According to him, this will help Muslims, especially in the Holy month of Ramadan, as they seek God’s blessings.
He said: “As Christian leaders, we kick against any rise in prices of food that will make Muslims not happy in the Holy month; we also kick against all forms of extortion, cheating by marketers because we all worship one God.
“We all are Brothers and sisters, and Adam and Eve were our origin and we all believe in the Bible and Qur’an.

As a result of this, we deem it fit to participate fully in dialoguing with marketers on the importance of reducing the prices of all goods and services for the benefit of the Holy month.”
Responding, on behalf of the marketers, Alhaji Adamu Usman Maishinkafa, who expressed satisfaction, said the message would be passed across to all members of the union and urged businessmen and women to fear God in all their affairs.
