Radda tasks Katsina lawmakers on good governance, development

The governor of Katsina state, Dikko Umaru Radda, has urged the three senators and 15 House of Representatives members from the state to remain good ambassadors of katsina in their various chambers.

The governor equally charged them to promote Katsina’s interest first before any other thing.

The governor while congratulating them also rejoiced with their families, supporters and associates on the successful inauguration into the 10th National Assembly on Tuesday.

Radda, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Wednesday, also felicitated with Senator Godswill Akpabio on his emergence as President of the Senate and Jibrin Barau’s mandate as Deputy President of the Senate.

Radda congratulated the Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas and Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who emerged as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, respectively.

The governor lauded the transparent and peaceful manner the elections of the presiding officers of the 10th NASS was conducted, saying both the 10th Senate and House of Representatives were lucky to have seasoned lawmakers at the helm of their affairs.

He expressed confidence that the 10th NASS, under the leadership of Senator Akpabio and Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas, will raise the bar of legislative governance, while robustly checkmating the excesses of the executive arm of government.

“The election of Senators Akpabio and Jibrin, together with Rt. Honourable Abbas and Kalu has ushered in a new dawn for the Nigerian federal parliament. And the National Assembly, indeed, will never be the same again under their stewardship.

“They are going to justify the confidence their colleagues have reposed on them, I have no doubt. The new Senate President and Speaker are eminently qualified for the jobs they asked for, and which they have gotten. That they will deliver, is what I have never doubted,” he noted.
