Provost, COE Zuba, harps on values of language, technology

The Provost, College of Education, Zuba, Dr. Muhammad Gambo Hamza, has reiterated the commitment of the management of the institution to employ the power of language to instil virtues such as tolerance, integrity, justice, solidarity and fairness into the minds of the students.
Hamza made this known while addressing participants during the just concluded international conference on language, technology and democratic culture organised by the school of languages.
He also stressed the significance of language in enhancing access to knowledge and research cooperation, saying that the goal of higher education was not only to teach and spread ideas, but to promote cultural values and educate the minds and spirits.

His words: “Language is an extraordinary gift of God. It is part of what makes man fully human”, stressing that, “man is a rational animal and what sets him apart and raises him above animals, is that the ability to reason, and it is very clear that he cannot reason without language. Pointing out that language is what makes the growth of civilization possible.
“Our graduates are highly successful academics, public servants, businessmen, corporate workers, religious leaders, politicians, and in fact, in all walks of life. Our ambition is to employ all our resources to ensure that we rise further and be among the very few premier global teacher institutions in the country”, he added.
In her speech, the dean of the schools, Hajia Zalihat Ammani Malumfashi. shed more light on contributions of language and   technology towards the growth and development of the society, adding that technology has made great impact in the area of transmitting messages to lager audience.

She also disclosed that the conference would bring out some recommendations that would be of benefit to the growth of democratic culture through the use of language and application of technology.
Malumfashi stressed the significance of the concepts, noting that technology might be impossible without language neither could democratic culture exists without the development of relevant technology and linguistic tools.
The dean remarked that the objective of democratic culture is for individuals to have an equal opportunity to be involved in the forms of governance in society signifying the relevance of language and technology to strengthening democratic system.
According to her language and technology enhanced material resources, economic viability, scientific advancement, educational development and life-enhancing social services.
