Prove Clark wrong by releasing Nnamdi Kanu, Igbo Union tells Tinubu

The Igbo Union on Sunday said observations made by the Ijaw leader, Pa Edwin Clark, on the ill-treatment meted out to the Igbos in Nigeria are nothing but the truth.

Clark had said right from the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Igbos of eastern region had been subjected to injustices.

The group, therefore, stated that the references made by the elder statesman to buttress his observations were convincing enough to all and sundry.

A statement by the President Igbo Union, Prince Elias Odoemena, said the hatred inflicted by Nigerians to the Igbos was alarming despite what the Igbos had done to develop the nation.

According to Prince Odemena, the Igbos remained the only force that greatly unites Nigeria today, praying that only God that will deliver the ethnic group from their many oppressors.

The statement noted that Pa Clark’s observations could not be faulted  because the elder statesman sitting down sees what younger persons would not see even when on top of Iroko.

The Igbo Union, however, stated that the ball was on President Tinubu’s court to prove Pa Clark right or wrong.

“President Tinubu is our brother and friend and we want him, as matter of urgency to release unconditionally Mazi Nnamdi Kalu from DSS detention to  Engineer Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu the President General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo.

The group stressed that International community had frowned at why the Nigerian Courts were delaying in concluding the trials of Kanu.

The statement praised the Vice President Alhaji Kashim Shettima for his appointing Igbo sons as his Chief Security Officer and another his Special Adviser on Media.
