A group, Ayundantes Empowerment Initiative has lauded the Armed Forces of Nigeria for its professionalism in handling the #EndBadGovernance protests across the country.
The group also commended the military for defending democracy and for being loyal to the Constitution of Nigeria.
The executive director of the group Amechi Chuks Oyema gave the commendation while addressing a press conference in Abuja on Monday, said the Armed Forces of Nigeria disappointed those who had ulterior motives in the guise of protests.
He said if not for the military, miscreants would have caused more damages in some parts of the country.
He said: “At a time our security agencies, especially the Armed forces of Nigeria are engaged in military operations in different parts of the country, this evil people are more interested in deepening the challenges.
“We want to sincerely commend the Armed forces of Nigeria under the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Chris Musa for the way the military has handled the crisis.
“The professional conduct of men of the Armed forces is commendable. The AFN disappointed those who had other ulterior motives for our country.
“In the extreme, some even wanted the military to intervene in governance.
“Severally, the Chief of Defence Staff has made it known that the military will continue to be loyal to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to the shame of the naysayers.”
Oyema while condemning in strong terms those who waved foreign flag in some parts of the country, blamed desperate politicians for being behind them.
According to him, “In the course of the protest, Ayudantes Empowerment Initiative noticed some strange unfolding developments.
“Some people were flying the flags of a foreign government calling on that nation to come and take over our government. This is treasonable offence.
“We are being forced to believe that the people who have consistently supported ongoing security challenges in some parts of the country are at work.
“We want to say without doubt that our security agencies will fish out all those involved in this unfortunate situation.
“The evil minded individuals have fuelled the present protest and it is obvious they don’t mean well for our country.
“Nigeria must not be pushed to precipice because of the evil desires of a few who are uncomfortable any time they are out of power.”
He urged the protesters to listen to voice of reason and call of the protest especially now that the president has addressed the nation.
“We join faith with well meaning Nigerians to not only call for restraint but urge all to accept the address of Mr. President,” he said.
