Property tussle: Thugs ‘seize’ 2 school staff, chase away others

Armed thugs Monday invaded Whiteplains British Schools, Jabi, Abuja, and prevented its staff and students from accessing the school premises.

Our reporter gathered that two members of staff of the school were allegedly seized by the rampaging thugs who also violently chased away both staff and students of the school.

An eye witness account stated that the thugs numbering fifty waylaid the staff and students by brandishing cutlass, charms and other dangerous weapons as they chased the staff back to the school gate.

“As we were running, some of them cornered us at the other point as we made bid to scamper to safety and started destroying our school coaster bus and one other car.

“Not only that, two of our staff were  also seized by the thugs while some others have been hospitalised due to various degrees of injuries sustained,’’ the witness said.

Speaking on the incident, the proprietress of the school, Dr Francis Nwufuh, said the attack was unfortunate and accused First Bank Plc of being the  mastermind of the attack.

He said: “Before now, the National Assembly made it clear that First Bank forged some documents and the Inspector General of Police had also ordered for an investigation and subsequent prosecution on the matter.

“Immediately after that, they invaded the school in a violent manner with thugs and chased everyone away. Today, which is the resumption date, my staff gently went to start their work and as they entered premises despite court order which was in our favor,” Nwufoh said.the school, the hoodlums that First Bank hired attacked them again with matchets, chasing and beating my teachers.
