Prof. Sulaiman Consistently speaks for PDP

Some are able but are not capable. Some are capable but are not able. It is rare in the Nigerian political firmament to see able and capable Nigerians offering themselves to serve human kind. Prof. Abubakar Olarenwaju Sulaiman is one of those very minute able and capable Nigeria who has offered to serve and scarify.

Testimonies about his capacity and capability abound among eminent Nigerians like Taminu Turaki, Femi-Fani Kayode, Bala Muhammed, Late Chief Ojo Madueke and numerous of them who have had opportunity to work with him closely.

Without engaging in Public Relation rebranding of his personality or any form of ego massaging, Prof. Abubakar Olarenwaju Sulaiman enjoys the support of large chunk of the party faithful.

He has been constantly, consistently and constructively engaging the APC government on issues of policies, programmes and plan right from June 2015 when majority of the party members were still trying to recover from the shock of defeat experienced in the 2015 general election.

Even in spite of political persecution and intimidation, he refused to be silent. He is always speaking to the media with facts and figures to debunk the gross misconceptions about PDP administration. Men with this type of courage and confidence should be given privilege to pilot the affairs of the party in the forthcoming National (elective) convention.

His stay in office as a Minister of National Planning was short but eventful with laudable achievements among which was the Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan, a blueprint designed to close the gap on infrastructure deficit in Nigeria.

He won the heart of his Boss, former President Goodluck Jonathan as a result of his technocratic acumen and his deep knowledge about Nigeria issues. Based on this capacity, he was incessantly planted in many committees and sub-committees under President Gookluck Jonathan’s administration where the need for thorough brainstorming, ideas and expertise are needed.

Prof. Abubakar Olarenwaju Sulaiman is a repository of knowledge in the field of political science and International Relations. He has taught, mentored and impacted more than ten thousands graduates for two decades now.

Majority of them scattered all over the globe making headways in their chosen professions still keep close relationship for career and professional counselling. He commands respect among colleagues, comrades and students and he is held in high esteem based on his conviction and fairness to all.

For such a man to offer himself for a nation building role, he should be encouraged to serve. He will no doubt combine theoretical and practical knowledge of politics in shaping the image of the PDP and reposition it for electoral victories.

According to former President Goodluck Jonathan, “the posts of National Chairman and National Publicity Secretary are critical in the party and must not be joked with”. In Prof. Sulaiman, PDP can be sure of issue based criticism, the courage to speak against all odds, passion and loyalty of high standard as their National Publicity Secretary.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deserves a Publicity Secretary that exudes great personality like Prof. Sulaiman. A person well known by the media and the general public. One whose activity has the capacity to command media attention and win the hearts of Nigerians, a cerebral, courageous and experienced person with good oratory skills. Not all about speaking in rhetoric or unending narrative but somebody like Prof. that will always counter lies and propaganda with facts and figures.

This can only be achieved if the PDP delegates across the country make an informed choice of voting Prof. Sulaiman as their National Publicity Secretary. A party without a vocal voice will be pocketed by ruling party. The beauty of democracy lies in the robust nature of opposition party.

Caleb Crain in his book “The Case Against Democracy” asked a pertinent question that: If most voters are uninformed, who should make decision about the public’s welfare? Please delegates, be informed and vote Prof. Sulaiman for the good of the party and a better Nigeria.
