The United Nation Children Fund (Unicef) has appeal to state governments and other stakeholders especially in the health sector on the need to prioritise adolescent children and reproductive health issues.
It also urges them to redouble their commitments towards making life safer and better for adolescent children in the society through their various programmes, policies and activities.
This appeal was made by the chief of field office Unicef Bauchi, Nuzhat Rafique in Yola Wednesday, while answering questions at a panel discussion on reproductive health organised by the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency in collaborations with UNICEF.
She called for more commitments and investments in this important area of Health need by all stakeholders especially the government.
She further tasked adolescent children in the state and other parts of the country not to accept any form of manipulations and societal abuse but stand on their feet and be aware of their rights such as their right to protection, right to education among other rights and be well informed.
She said this will enable them to protect and take good care of themselves, their families and communities from any form of abuse as future mothers.
Rafique, further advised them on the need to organised themselves and bring adolescent children in various communities and villages together to collectively speak with one voice, monitor and ensure that their needs are met by the government and other constituted authority.
