Principal applauds UBEB over performance

The principal of Junior Secondary School (JSS), Kiyi, a suburb of Kuje area council, Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi, has commended the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB) was a welcome development.

He made the remarks in his welcome address during the Parents’ Teachers Association (PTA) meeting at the school’s premises in Kiyi, Kuje.
He said initially the school was temporarily hosted by LEA primary school in November 2011, but has now moved to its permanent site with a total of 44, 921 teaching and five non-teaching staff.

He thanked the FCT UBEB and FCT administration for their undiluted support to the school in the FCT, he also thanked the village head, Malam Jubril Shaba, for giving them the land for the school.

The principal pointed out that the school on its parts has not deviated from her vision and mission of giving qualitative and basic education that encompassed the effectiveness.
He said some of the school’s challenges were lack of teachers, especially in Mathematics and Nigerian Languages, access road, kits for Laboratory Science and Basic Technology.

He appealed to parents to assist the school, noting that the PTA levy was inadequate, but warned teachers not to impose illegal levies on students.
Earlier, the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) Chairman, Adamu Ahmed, said he was happy with the commitment and excitement shown by FCT UBEB, adding that it had given him support to enable him and his executive to perform more.
