Presidential tribunal: Atiku to present 100 witnesses in 3 weeks

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, in the February 25, 2023 election, has asked for a three-week extension to present 100 witnesses as evidence in his case against the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.

During the proceedings at the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja on Saturday, Atiku and the PDP, represented by Chief Chris Uche, SAN, revealed that the witnesses would consist of experts and individuals who they would request the court to mandate to testify.

Uche said, “We may not even exhaust the three weeks because the issues are getting narrower.”

Tinubu claimed that he could discredit Atiku’s case within a mere two days.

However, the Independent National Electoral Commission, represented by its lawyer, Abubakar Mahmood, SAN, informed the court that they would present only two witnesses.

The All Progressives Congress, represented by Mr. Solomon Umoh, SAN, mentioned that they would require two days to present 39 witnesses.

Atiku had prayed for the court to declare him the winner of the presidential election, as he garnered the second-highest number of valid votes cast during the election.
