Polo tourney: Malcomines beat Lintex in opener, set to retain governor’s cup

Polo spectators were Thursday evening entertained with a thrilling encounter in the most valuable Governor’s cup competition, with defending champions and three consecutive winners, Malcomines polo team beating Lintex polo team in the opening match.

Four teams are contesting in the governor’s cup, with 2021 runners up Keffi ponies facing Dukaji farms polo team in the second match, Friday evening.

At opening match, Lintex’s 13 handicap Bashir Bashir, Idris Badamasi, Jamilu Muhammad and prolific performer, Bello Buba’s efforts wasn’t good enough at stopping Malcomines’s 14 handicap Argentine players – Fernando Munaz, Alejo Aramburu, Murtala Laushi and skillful Hamisu Buba, from a 13 – 5 and half goals defeat.

The combination of the Argentines and Nigerian players from both teams, kept spectators thrilled, even with the thrashing of Lintex 5 and half to Malcomines 13 goals.

In the NASCO Cup, Kano Lamis lost 3 – 8 to Kano Rumbu, while Minna Profile defeated Katsina 131 Kg 6-5 and half goals, also 60 Yards lost out to Nigeria Police 2-6.

For President cup – Alphamsa Stable suffered 2-6 defeat in the hands of NEPA, whereas Katsina Mua’azzam beat Katsina Shahida 6-3. Kano Giloso quashed Maiduguri A&F 9-1 goals.
