Police trains 500 officers ahead of Edo guber

As part of efforts geared to equip officers, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Tuesday, trained 500 officers in Edo state command on how to handle election matter during this week’s Saturday governorship poll.

The police said the exercise was also with a view to prepare operatives and ensure a peaceful and credible election.

The Commissioner of Police in Edo state, Nemi Edwin-Iwo, commended the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun for the initiative.

The CP who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner, Administration, Adepegba Adetoye, charged the officers to be attentive at the session, and put the knowledge garnered into use.

He noted: “No knowledge is wasted and whatever you gather at the training will be useful during the election.”

The GTA consulting firm handling the training, said the exercise was to ensure that officers deployed to supervise the security of the election and other stakeholders play on the same page.

He added: “It would ensure that there is no discrimination, intimidation and ensure orderliness during the election so that the outcome acceptable to all players.”
