The Kogi state Police command Thursday gave the spokesman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Farouk Adejoh, a 24-hour ultimatum to substantiate his allegations against the command and the state Commissioner of Police.
The Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) in Kogi state, SP Ovye William, in a statement made available to newsmen in Lokoja said any failure on the part of Farouk to substiate the allegation within the stipulated time might force the police to hold him accountable.
The director of Media, Muri /Sam Governorship Campaign Council, Adejoh, had in a statement Wednesday alleged that the Kogi state Police command and the state Commissioner of Police were responsible for recruiting and supporting thugs in support of a certain political party and personalities.
The PPRO described the allegations as reckless and without substance.
Part of the statement by the Kogi state Police command reads: ”Our attention has been drawn to a reckless allegation against the Kogi state Police command and the Commissioner of Police in charge of the state command, claiming that the CP was responsible for recruiting and supporting thugs in support of a certain political party or personalities.
“The command is hereby giving Adejoh 24 hours to substantiate his allegations against the state Police command and the CP or we might have no option than to invoke our operational processes to hold him to account for his unsubstantiated claims.”
