Police task Lugbe residents on sustained community policing

The Lugbe division of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has urged residents of the communities along the Airport road and beyond, to ensure that they form vigilante groups, to support the effort of the police in combating crime within the jurisdiction.
The new Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP, Ekho Joseph, who made this call, yesterday at a Town Hall meeting with members of the community, at De Martinos Garden, Lugbe FCT gave dedicated emergency numbers for crime alert.
Reading out the numbers as 08061581938, CSP Joseph said 10 vigilante member and one policeman will add up to eleven policemen, saying the need was to carry everybody along while frowning at the activities of some commercial motorcyclists in the area.
District head of Kuchingoro, Umarudeen Maikasuwa, said priority attention should be given to security by using the tips highlighted by the DPO.
To maintain peace in the communities and cope up with insurgency, Maikasuwa called for the formation of Police Community Relation Committee, PCRC, in every community thanking the DPO for encouraging the formation of vigilante groups.
According to the Monarch, those who fail to pay their security levies should be brought to book, adding that that if the communities and residents abide by the advice derived from the meeting, the future will be bright.

Owner of De Martinos Garden, Comrade Chibuzor Martins, noted that good security and cooperation of the people wouldl be profitable not only to the businessman, market woman, but all residents of the communities.
“Security is everybody’s business, this meeting will yield positive fruits, not only now, but in future.
He also called on the leadership of the police to enhance the welfare and reward gallant and committed officers as a deterrent aiding and abetting vices in the communities.
