Police seek public partnership for community-policing

Commissioner of Police in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Sadiq Bello, has made case for public partnership for community policing, just as he urged private companies and individuals to collaborate with the force on effective community policing.
Bello made the call at the inauguration of a police out-post in Shape area of Wasa District of the territory, which was constructed by Gilmore Engineering Nig. Ltd and donated to the command as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The commissioner, who was represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of Administration, DCP Ishola Babaita, said: “This singular act by Gilmor is commendable and should be emulated by other cooperate bodies as well as construction companies.”
Earlier, Coordinator, Satellite Town Development Agency, Mr Ishaku Tanko, said the police out-post was timely given the rate of crime in the community and urged members of the public to compliment the efforts of the security agencies they cannot do it alone.
Mr. Yakubu Kuruzhin, Head of Shape area of Wasa, who appreciated the company for the project, promised to work with the police for effective security in the community.
Executive Director, Gilmor Engineering Nig. Ltd, Avi Abekasis, on his part, expressed hope that the police out-post would lead to the reduction incidents of crime in the community, adding that with the cooperation of all involved the area would be developed.
