Police rescue 2 kidnap victims, recover 303 rustled livestock in Kaduna

The Kaduna state Police Command has confirmed the rescue of two kidnapped victims and the recovery of 283 rustled cows and 20 sheep.

The Command also said five suspects have been apprehended in connection with the operation.

In a statement by the Command’s PPRO, ASP Mansir Hassan, he said on 31 October, operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, led by SP Sani Ibrahim Zuntu, acted on credible intelligence, leading them to a remote area in Gora Village where they arrested the suspects and retrieved the livestock suspected to be stolen.

He said those arrested include Danjuma Alhaji Nguna, 25, Saleh Shehu, 35, Isiya Abdullahi, 35, Abubakar Isiya, 13, and Aminu Abdullahi, also known as “Kano,” 13. He also added that the  suspects will face court proceedings after preliminary investigations.

In a separate incident the same day, Hassan stated that officers from Ikara Division responded to reports of suspected bandit activity near Kauyen Magaji Auchan village.

“Upon arrival, the police engaged the bandits in a gunfight, prompting them to flee. Two kidnapped victims, identified as Ibrahim Abdullahi and Hafsat Yusuf, were subsequently rescued and taken to a hospital for medical evaluation before being reunited with their families,” he said.
