…Police parade 4 for ‘shooting’ Jonathan’s in-law

Four armed robbery suspects have been paraded by the Commissioner of Police, Cross River state Command, Hafi z Inuwa, for shooting Prince Godswill Edward, son in-law to former President Goodluck Jonathan. He gave their names as 18-yearold Aniah Godwin Ungwagwaje, Akwagiobo Boniface, 22, Adamade John Ereshie, 23, and Ekjuma Ifeanyichukwu, 26. Parading the suspects at the weekend, Inuwa said the suspects were arrested on July 26, 2017, and the gang members attacked Edward, on July 7, 2017, while he was driving into his residence at 17b Kasuk Street, 3rd Avenue, State Housing estate in Calabar, and that the suspects had earlier gained entrance through the fence of their victim’s residence and were lying in wait for the victim.

“Prince Edward was shot on the head and was rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Four of the suspects were arrested at diff erent locations in Obudu local government area. Th ey have all made useful statement in connection with the shooting aimed at facilitating the arrest of other fl eeing associates for interrogation and prosecution.” Inuwa also said two prostitutes were picked up for human traffi cking and gave their names as Ikeoma Obia Ijie and Joy Okeke.

“On 26 the July 2017, one Amanda Nwambe, 15, reported at the State Housing Division that one Chinonso (other names unknown) brought her from Ebonyi state to Calabar with the hope of giving her work in a restaurant. “But on arrival, the said Chinonso handed her to one Ijeoma Obia Ijie and Joy Okeke, both of who reside at Peace Garden Hotel, Calabar… Th e two women thus forced her into prostitution. After two weeks of being involved in commercial sex business, she could not endure the pains hence she ran to State Housing Police station for help,” he stated. Th e Commissioner said the suspects would be arraigned as soon as Police conclude investigations.
