Police nab suspected fake Facebook suitor in Anambra


Anambra State police, on Wednesday, said it has arrested a 22-year-old man, Mr David Maduabuchi, who allegedly specialises on defrauding young girls on  Facebook.
Maduabuchi was accused of luring two 18 years-old girls, Miss Miracle Ogechi and Miss Chinasa Peter between the months of March, 2019 and November, 2019, on Facebook under false pretences of marrying them.


The command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Muhammed, alleged that the suspect swindles vulnerable youngsters particularly teenage girls on Facebook and hoodwink them into stealing from their parents and guardian for him (the suspect). 


“Victims were further tutored by the suspect and they both stole the sums of three hundred and eighteen thousand  naira (#318,000) and one hundred thousand Naira (#100,000) respectively at different times from their parents, as well as laptop computers which they  handed over to him.


“On the 07 November, 2019 at about 7:pm,Police detectives attached to Awada Division arrested one David Maduabuchi ‘m’ aged 22years of No 16 Chukwu Onovo street, Okpoko. The case is under investigation after which suspect would be charged to court for prosecution,” he stated.
