Police ministry perm sec lauds NPF

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Police Affairs, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, has lauded the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for putting their lives, welfare, and livelihood at stake to protect the citizens, stating that members of the Force deserved the best applause in the country.

The ministry’s Deputy Director, Press, Bolaji O. Kazeem, who made this known in a press statement, on Monday in Abuja, said the peer sect made the assertion during the Stakeholders/Ministry SERVICOM Committee meeting on the Ministry’s Service Chapter review held at the Headquarters of the Ministry in Abuja.

He said rhe permanent secretary urged the misnty’sndirector of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement to develop a service chapter that would change the horizon for the ministry and the entire police ecosystem.

In his words, “Believe me, the Nigeria Police deserves the best applause in the whole country given the right environment. They put their lives and welfare at stake yet they are not been acknowledge.
“I feel sorry and sad, but we will change the situation and people will know that the Nigeria Police Force is an asset and our existence in the whole country.”

Dr. Nasir charged the Ministerial SERVICOM Committee to quickly articulate the service chapter and go for the best for the entire police ecosystem and urged them to go for the best to enable citizens to see the police as their friends and pathfinders for helping safe environment in the country.

According to the perm sec, “By the time we roll out our activities, I believe with minimum efforts we can make the Nigeria Police Force the best institution in Nigeria. Looking at what I have seen in this ministry as an expert and application of the epidemiology principles, we have internally what to make to change Nigeria Police Force, they deserve the best.”

He reiterated that SERVICOM was a service improvement and hallmark of the Head of Service of the Federation which aligned with Mr. President Renewed Hope Agenda and the need to actualise it for the benefit of Nigerians.

He noted that NPF has not been well represented despite having a tap on each community in the country.

Earlier, the Head of Operations, SERVICOM National Office, Mrs Ngozi Akinbodewa said that the adoption of the Service Delivery Initiative (SERVICOM), has the responsibility to provide quality service to external and internal customers which has become an essential issue for government agencies.

According to the head.ofnopeartions, “A Service Charter is a written statement of the commitment of an Organization to provide its customers with quality service. It informs the public about the available services, how they can be accessed, and sets out the standards of service customers can expect.”

Mrs. Akinbodewa noted that Service standards provide a practical way of managing performance and help to shape the expectations users of the service of Nigerian MDA have of the Government of Nigeria adding that full and accurate information should be readily available in plain language about how services are provided, what they cost, how well they perform.
