The Nigerian Police Force has released 15-point electoral offences, ahead of tomorrow’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

The Police, in a statement by CP Emmanuel Ojukwu,  warned members of the public, particularly those going to vote, to beware of the electoral offences, which include casting of vote twice or more, announcing false election result and stopping any other person from voting.

Others are revealing information on a ballot paper of another person, being possession of another person’s voter card, disorderly behavior at polling unit and canvassing for votes at polling unit.
Shouting Slogan of a political party at polling unit, being armed with guns, sticks, stones or any other dangerous weapons at polling unit, loitering or walking about in a poling unit, using siren at a polling unit.

The police said snatching or destroying ballot boxes or card readers, holding public meeting during election hours on election day, wearing or carrying badge or poster of a political party and inflicting or threatening to inflict injury on any person or persons at a polling unit, also constitute electoral offences.
Consequently, the Police advised the public to avoid trouble, as any offender would be arrested and prosecuted.
