Police kill 15, arrest 60 kidnap suspects, cultists in Delta

Delta state police command yesterday said it arrested 60 suspected kidnappers, armed robbers and cultists across the state while 15 suffered fatal gunshots.

The suspected criminals were killed when engaging police in a shootout.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, said this in Asaba, the state capital, while briefing journalists on the activities of the Command.

He said: “As far as we are concerned in this command, kidnappers and armed robbers are the same. Parents are advised to take their responsibilities seriously. We have come to realize that parental care have virtually gone awry.”
Aduba said the criminals operated in different ways across the state, adding that the rate at which cultism thrived in secondary schools in the state had called for concern.

He said devil criminals would be flushed out completely “if they don’t leave the state,” urging the state government to come to the aid of the Command in its avowed fight against crime and criminality.
He recalled how the monarch of Abavo Kingdom in Ika South local government area of the state triggered what he described as “native war” in his domain, and was charged to court for breach of the peace and false alarm.
