Police keeps mum over alleged invasion of Osun command by Army

Osun state Police Command has refused to speak on the alleged invasion on its headquarters in Osogbo by men of Nigeria Army. 


The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Folashade Odoro, only told the newsmen that the police would issue a statement on the issue soonest.


It was gathered that some armed soldiers in their large numbers invaded the headquarters of Police command in the state on Monday. 

The alleged invasion caused tension in the state capital. 


The invasion which reportedly happened around 1pm on Monday was said to have led to exchange of gunfire between the soldiers  and police officers at the entrance. 


A soldier was alleged to have stabbed a policeofficer during a hot argument last week Saturday and the soldier was allegedly arrested and detained at the police headquarters.


Though the PPRO did not confirm the arrest of the soldier, it was gathered that some colleagues of the soldier later mobilized to the command to forcefully secure the release of their colleague. 


It was gathered that resistance at the police entrance led to the exchange of gunfire between the sisters officers. 


It was gathered that three soldiers, who had entered before the gunfire have been detained by the police. 


A police source told our Correspondent that the three soldiers have been released on Tuesday, leaving the first suspect in police net.
