Police in Kwara state has commenced investigation into the suspected death by suicide of a farmer in Idera Community in the Ifelodun Local Government area of the state.
Has reportedly committed suicide at the weekend.
The 45-year-old farmer, who was also a hunter, reportedly committed suicide by using his own gun which he was said to have inserted in his mouth and pulled the trigger.
The death of the farmer, hailed from Oreke community in the same local government but resided in Idera, was said to have thrown the into communities into confusion, with different version on the circumstances surrounding his death making the rounds.
Some of the people close to the deceased expressed shock at the development as they claimed the farmer did not show any sign of depression that could led to him taking his own life.
They expressed optimism that the investigation into the incident, which was said to have been reported to the police by one of the children of the deceased, would provide answers to the Mystery surrounding his death.
When contacted, police public relations officer of the Kwara state Police Command, Ajayi Okasanmi, said he was yet to be briefed about the development.
He, however, assured that the police would get to the root of the matter in due course.
The farmers suspected suicide came few days after another suspected suicide in Ilorin involving a miner, whose body was said to have been found in his apartment alongside a suicide note he reportedly left.
