Police confirm attack on Nasarawa deputy gov

Nasarawa state police command has confirmed the attack on the Nasarawa state deputy governor’s convoy Mr Emmanuel Akaabe by suspected armed robbers leading to the death of four persons.

The command police Public Relations Officer, Ismail Umar, who confirmed the incident in Lafia, said the incident occurred on Lafia Akwanga road.

He said the command had mobilized officers led by the commissioner of police, Bola Longe to the scene of the incident.

According to an eye witness, police escort attached to the deputy governor’s engaged the robbers in a gun battle, but the robbers overpowered the policemen and three of them were shot dead including a driver.

“A commercial driver who attempted to escape the robbery operation was also shot dead. Their copses have been deposited at Dalhatu Araf specialist hospital Lafia”.

A medical personnel at the Dalhatu Araf specialist hospital Lafia also confirmed receiving the corpses but declined further comment on the matter saying he was not the right person to speak.
