The police would continue to protect the lives and property of Gwagwalada residents and its environs in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Divisional Officer (DPO) in charge of Gwagwalada Divisional Headquarters, Patrick Daaor, stated this when he received Merit Award of Visionary Detective and Visional Icon conferred on him by Orator Communications Media Ltd.
The DPO, who described the media as “a powerful tool of communication,” urged them not to relent in their good reportage, saying that he was deeply encouraged by the award presented to him.
He said Gwagwalada area council was peaceful compared to others in some states, maintaining that his Division was ready to utilise all the resources available for effective policing.
He said his men had evolved strategy of detecting crimes, a system in which his men would be effectively policed.
Daaor further appealed to newsmen and residents of the area council to continue to assist the Division with useful information, noting that the police would always need the goodwill of citizens in order to perform effectively.
He explained that the police needed useful information on suspected criminals to act on, adding that without the
public corporation, the police would never succeed in fighting crime.
The police boss said no security outfit performed without information from the public, adding that it would be difficult for a policeman on beat to predict what crime was going to happen next.
He added that the students’ population was one of their challenges, stressing that they were taking care of that problem as they were working with the university community.
