Gombe police command yesterday arrested not less than 67 suspects in connection to different degrees of violence in the just concluded general elections in the state.
Briefing newsmen at State Police Headquarters in Gombe, the Police Commissioner, CP Kudu Abdullahi Nma, through the office of the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Fwaje Attajiri, said the police had arrested the suspects from various points in the state, and recovered weapons including cutlasses, knives, long sticks and others.
Also according to the PPRO, over 20 cases were recorded in respect to the election violence in the state. Adding that, investigations on the matter were ongoing and that the suspects would soon be charged to court in other to face the full wrath of law.
Similarly, the police command has paraded four suspects engaged in homosexuality. The suspects whose names were given as Ibrahim Abubakar, Sadiq Adamu, Rufayi Mohammed, and Sadiq Umar were said to be caught red handed while in the act at Tudunwada quarters, Gombe.
The Police scribe said the suspects were engaged in homosexuality which he described as crime against nature and that the police would not tolerate such unnatural offences in the state.
In the same development, a 45 year old man named Haruna Adamu was also paraded along with the suspects for raping a minor at Anguwan-Idi Quarters in Gombe.
Also according to the police, success were recorded by the police in the state through its proactive patrol measures following some tip- up and intelligent gatherings, this according to the police scribe, has lead to the success in unveiling some criminal hideouts in the state.
The PPRO also called on the people in the state to remain calm, and law abiding, urging the people to always give information of any suspicious persons or activities within their communities.
