The Plateau state Board of Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS), said it has so far raised N7 billion revenue collection in the first quarter of 2023.
It decried reduction in its collection in the year 2022, with a drop of N6bn, from the previous N20bn in 2022.
The executive chairman of the state Board Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Dashe Arlat, stated this Tuesday at a press conference held at the board Conference Hall of Revenue House, Jos.
He expressed hope that the board will continue to deploy high technology, to maximise revenue collection, targeting N26 billion in the fiscal year 2023.
“The budget of the board is targeted at N20bn for the 2023, while N6bn is targeted from MDs, all making it N26bn for the year 2023,” he said.
E said the board will automate its sales of tickets and means of revenue collection, where payee will purchase or pay his ticket online.
“Some of the non tax compliances are in court and almost all land owners in Plateau state are tax non compliance,” he said.
Mr. Arlat said the board will continue to make training and retraining of staff a top priority.
He cited instances that Airtel communications for non-compliance and has been taken to court.
